Monday the 13th of July saw the Innovations in Healthcare Conference take place in The Octagon Centre, Sheffield. With 21 exhibitors from around the University of Sheffield and external companies, it gave BodiTrakSports a great platform to showcase our great work.
The day kicked off with an initial exhibition walk around before the commencement of talks. Highlights of the talks included Keynote Speaker Dr Hakim Yadi from the Northern Health Alliance who discussed the initiatives that are backing health innovation in the North of England, as well as the N8 initiative. A joint networking project that the MultiSim project is helping to host in October.
This was followed by a talk from the inspirational Claire Lomas. Claire suffered T4 fracture to her spine during a horse riding event in 2007 but due to advances in ground-breaking health technology has managed to regain much of her independence and even the ability to walk thanks to the ReWalk suit; a bionic exoskeleton that gives paraplegics the ability to stand.
“Innovations in Healthcare Conference, a great platform to showcase our work.”
This was followed by some very informative talks about recruiting and how to research with the University of Sheffield. Tania Hide, Head of Economic Development, highlighted many of the opportunities for collaboration with not only the University of Sheffield but also other Higher Education Institutes.
Following a brief lunch break Keith Jackson, MD of JRI Orthopaedics led a seminar on building a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within business whilst others returned to the main exhibition are to engage with stands.
The day closed with 1-2-1 networking sessions that really helped in connecting attendees with us here at Insigneo and the work we carry out within the institute.
This was an excellent and well organised event that highlights not only the great work that we are carrying out here with BodiTrakSports but also the other collaborators within the University of Sheffield. We look forward to the next Innovations in Healthcare Conference that will surely grow on this year’s great success.
